The Cholistan Desert also locally known as Rohi (روہی), is a large desert in the southern part of Punjab. The nearest big city is Bahawalpur. During summer temperatures can surpass 50°C (122 °F). Which can be unbearable heat for humans and animals. The area has not seen proper rainfall for nearly two decades. This has resulted in the longest drought this area has seen.

Right now, Cholistan is going through one of its toughest times. Animals are dying and malnutrition is taking human lives to the edge of death. As Muslims, it is our duty to take care of the vulnerable no matter where they are. Throughout Ramadan, you have shown generosity to help feed the fasting, you donated your Zakat to provide financial aid for the widows and orphans. Let’s continue the goodness and help provide life-saving clean drinking water for the people of Cholistan.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Humanity Care Relief receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. What is Water Filtration Plant?

Water filtration plants convert dirty and unsafe water into clean and safe drinking water. Most sources of water in the Cholistan are contaminated or too salty to drink. With the help of these plants, we will be able to remove impurities and saltiness from the water thus making it drinkable for locals.

Each water plant will help provide clean drinking water for 3 villages in the Cholistan. By raising our target we will provide clean drinking water for 6 villages.

HCR on the Ground in the Cholistan

Throughout the year, Humanity Care Relief’s team is on the ground in Cholistan. We are providing life-saving food and water aid to hundreds of families. Right now, we are working on providing long-term water solutions for the communities throughout the desert.  We are building water pumps, water wells and water filtration plants to make clean water accessible for people living in these remote villages.
